Screening for cervical cancer effectively reduces the risk of developing these cancers. HPV (human papillomavirus) infections are the primary cause of cervical cancer. There are generally no symptoms of an infection, which is why early detection is important. HPV tests will now be used as the primary test for screening instead of the Pap test.
The HPV test is a screening test that can detect the presence of abnormal cells that can cause precancerous lesions or cervical cancer.
Services available
HPV testing is available free of charge and does not require a referral.
