Medication Management of Pregnancy Loss (Miscarriage)

Birthing Centre - Family Planning Clinic

A miscarriage can be a distressing experience, often leading to a sense of isolation and suffering in silence. Remember however, that you’re not alone.

Are you having a miscarriage or are you worried?
Speak to a midwife. We are here for you.

Services offered by midwives to women experiencing a miscarriage are rooted in compassion, respect and support. Whether the miscarriage is in progress, suspected or confirmed, you are entitled to professional care that is tailored to your needs.

Midwives provide:

  • Safe support, remotely or at a birthing centre
  • Physical care
  • Emotional support that is respectful
  • Straightforward information about the options available to you (wait and see, medical treatment, natural evacuation)
  • A safe space to ask questions, to talk about your feelings and to make confident decisions

The midwives at the Family Planning Clinic are reachable by calling a dedicated phone number. Please leave a message at 514-230-5496 and we will call you back within 24 hours.

Who is this service intended for?

Anyone having a miscarriage within the first trimester of their pregnancy, regardless of whether or not they have previously been under the care of a midwife.

Why choose the Birthing Centre?

The midwives at the Birthing Centre are trained to provide the required care with skill and compassion, ensuring personalized follow-ups and making themselves available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for up to 6 weeks after the miscarriage.

This service allows clients to benefit from support that is respectful and confidential in an environment that is welcoming and safe. As with all the services they offer, midwives work in partnership with health care facilities that can take over care if and when necessary.

Every woman deserves to be cared for, heard and supported.

What does the procedure entail?

How a miscarriage is managed is up to the individual in question. They can opt to wait for things to occur naturally on their own or they can take medication.

If they decide to take medication, they will be given one or two medications that can either be taken at home or at the clinic, whichever they prefer.

What’s involved in the medication management of pregnancy loss with our midwives?
