What are the steps involved?

With or without a medical referral:

  • Anyone 3 years of age and over with symptoms such as a sore throat, trouble swallowing or fever must schedule an appointment through Clic santé.
  • A nurse will assess the individual’s health status at one of the local points of service.
  • If the individual’s condition requires an urgent consultation, a service corridor has been established with the Lakeshore General Hospital Emergency Department’s Rapid Access Clinic (CAR).
  • If there are no contraindications to the collective prescription, a nurse or a licensed practical nurse will perform the test (NAAT – IDNOW).
    • If the result is negative, the user will be invited to refer to the information available on the CIUSSS website for symptom-relief advice and for referral purposes should their condition deteriorate.
    • If the result is positive, the nurse must fill out the Liaison Form for Community Pharmacists, instructing them to administer treatment. The pharmacist will then decide on which therapy to administer based on the options available on the form.
  • Results will be available on the Dossier Santé Québec (DSQ).
  • Users will be referred to their family physician.
    • If the user is unable to get an appointment with their family physician, they will be able to call the Info CIUSSS call centre (514 630-2123), which will follow-up with the GAP.
  • Users who do not have a family physician will be referred to the Primary Care Access Point (GAP).
