To raise community awareness on June 16 to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (June 15), staff at the eleven residential facilities of the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal all showed great creativity.
Events included information booths, group discussions, scenarios, community activities such as coffee chats, presentations, and more. All of these activities were aimed at raising awareness among the staff and managers, residents and their loved ones, and volunteers.
- At the Centre d’hébergement Stillview, from left to right, Christine Gagné-Rodger, Associate Director—Accommodation Services Directorate, CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, Géralde Suze-Gentil, residential unit chief, Michel Gibson, mayor of the town of Kirkland, and John Morson, municipal councillor of the Town of Kirkland, took part in a discussion on elder abuse.
- At the Centre d’hébergement de Lachine, a bulletin board provided an array of information on elder abuse.
