The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux has announced the release of its Stratégie nationale de prévention en santé 2025–2035 (National Preventive Health Strategy 2025–2035).
This strategy, aimed at improving preventive healthcare across the province, is the result of broad, cross-sectoral collaboration. Goals include:
- Improving the health and well-being of the population;
- Reducing the consequences preventable diseases;
- Promoting health equity ;
- Acting sustainably to improve the determinants of health.
The strategy presents a clear, shared vision for preventive healthcare in Québec, along with well-defined priorities to unite and empower stakeholders across government and society.
By 2035, the strategy aims to:
- Reduce by 10% the consequences preventable diseases;
- Reduce by 10% premature mortality caused by socioeconomic inequalities.
Four priorities will guide these efforts:
- Reducing the consequences preventable diseases;
- Committing to generational health, now and in the future;
- Preserving and developing healthy, sustainable living environments;
- Making prevention a shared social commitment.
