Presentation of the Catherine Duong Award for Excellence

On December 4, the Catherine Duong Award for Excellence was presented at the Hôpital de LaSalle. The recipients for 2024 and 2025 are Dr. Andreea Iancu and Dr. Tony Assouline respectively!

Each recipient was presented with a prize of $2500 and a certificate of appreciation by Dr. Hélène Daniel, president of the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal Council of Physicians, Dentists, Pharmacists and Midwives (CPDPM) and Dr. Tomas Kaufman, head of the award’s selection committee.

The Catherine Duong Award for Excellence is presented each year to a candidate who embodies Dr. Duong’s values of integrity and passion in his or her practice. The prize is awarded to an active member of CMDPSG who provides an excellent quality of care, actively shares their knowledge, and cooperates with other healthcare professionals to create positive changes in the healthcare system.

Dr. Duong was the Chief of Family Medicine at the Hôpital de LaSalle when she passed away on March 1, 2021. She was an exceptionally courageous, intelligent, energetic and well-loved person who always gave the best of herself to her users and work colleagues. Over the years, her commitment resulted in significant advances in family medicine, and she left an indelible impression on everyone who had the privilege of meeting her.

We congratulate Drs. Iancu and Assouline!
