Automatic Exchange of Information

From the moment you access this site, your computer and the site server automatically exchange information. However, you cannot be personally identified (ex.: name, telephone, address, type of request) by the information.

The following information is exchanged:

  • Your access provider’s domain name (ex.: companyX.com, if you are using a private account to access the internet; university.com if you are using a university account, etc.);
  • Your IP address (ex.:123.45.67.890), which could enable an internet service provides to identity the name of the person associated to that address. However, it is anonymized to ensure the confidentiality of your information;
  • The type of browser (ex.: Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and operating system (ex.: Windows, macOS) you are using;
  • The pages you visit;
  • The date and time you accessed these pages; the address of the site of origin, from which you arrived at the site.

The site collects this information for technological reasons that are inherent to navigating the internet. The server needs this information in order to transmit files that are compatible with the computer equipment you are using. However, in no case do these requirements make it possible to identify you.

This information is also saved and used for statistical purposes. It is used to count the number of visits, the most frequently consulted pages, the technology used by these visitors, the site of origin, and visitors’ the country of origin. In no case will this information be used to create user lists.

Transmitting Personal Information

This site does not collect any personal data to which the visitor has not consented. As such, it meets the requirements of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information.

Articles 64 and 65 of this law require any ministry or organization requesting personal information to ensure that it is necessary to do so, and that they inform the person:

  • of the name and address of the public body on whose behalf the information is being collected;
  • of the purposes for which the information is collected;
  • of the categories of persons who will have access to the information;
  • of the fact that a reply is obligatory, or that it is optional;
  • of the consequences for the person concerned or, as the case may be, for the third person, in case of a refusal to reply;
  • of the rights of access and correction provided by law.

Generally you are not required to provide personal information. However, certain departments may request such information. In such a case, strict measures have been implemented to ensure the site is secure.

It is important to remember that transmitting information by email is not entirely secure. For that reason it is not recommended to provide personal information such as your social insurance number by email. To maintain the confidentiality of your personal information, site administrators will not respond to your questions by email if confidential data must be exchanged.

We handle electronic messages with the same confidentiality as mail received by post. If you send personal information by email by completing an unsecured form or by joining a distribution list, the site team will assume that you consented to do so.

Rest assured that:
