To mark the 150th anniversary of the borough of Verdun, the Douglas Mental Health University Institute invited citizens to an open house for an information-packed day.
Two fascinating lectures provided visitors with an opportunity to learn more about eating disorders and psychotic disorders. Given by Dr. Howard Steiger and Dr. Ridha Joober, both passionate experts in their fields, these talks sparked numerous insightful discussions.
Innovation was also on display in the form of an immersive virtual reality experience. Participants were able to learn more about the technological tools used to treat various psychotic disorders at the Douglas Institute.
Three members of the band Clay and Friends were also kind enough to attend the event. As spokespeople for the 150th anniversary of Verdun, Clément, Pascal and Adel were keen on participating to show their support and draw attention to the importance of mental health.
A retrospective video on the history of the Douglas Institute helped visitors better understand and appreciate the rich heritage of this landmark institution, which has deep roots in the Verdun community.
