We are thrilled to announce, in collaboration with McGill University, the appointment of Dr. Anita Koushik as the inaugural holder of the Research Chair in Community Oncology at St. Mary’s Hospital Centre.
The emergence of Community Oncology represents an important step in the evolution of cancer care. By inverting the logic of current hospital-based care models, Community Oncology capitalizes on resources and expertise based in the community to better diagnose, treat and support cancer patients and survivors. This dynamic new field also provides the opportunity to strengthen partnerships across the community, the Research Centre and University to optimize patient-centered cancer care.
As holder of this prestigious Chair, Dr. Koushik will actively contribute to enriching the academic and educational missions of St. Mary’s Research Centre and McGill University. Through teaching, graduate student supervision, and pioneering research endeavors, Dr. Koushik will advance knowledge, promote interdisciplinary collaborations, and translate research findings into tangible solutions that positively impact the well-being and healthcare outcomes of individuals and communities affected by cancer.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation for their generous financial support, which has made this tenured position possible. Their commitment to advancing cancer care and their belief in the importance of communitybased oncology have paved the way for this exciting appointment
